3D Carnival - How it all began!!
Dayne, Darren and Dem (3D) started back in the early 90's as a collective of school and neighbourhood friends from the Woodbrook area of Port of Spain. During the carnival of 1993 the group gathered momentum by our attendance at key carnival events such as Panorama and Brass Festival. The following year the size of the group increased with representation from both England (big up Lester aka The P.M) and the USA (big up Sulyn). With over 80 participants at J'Ouvert in Carnival 2000, the group began to conceptualize the idea of a J'Ouvert band. The following year was a difficult one as various core members of the group relocated to different geographical spaces outside of Trinidad, such as London, Washington, and Toronto. However, as the saying goes, with every cloud there emerges a silver lining. As we lost old members, the group nonetheless increased considerably with new people joining us from New York, Miami, Toronto, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. Our progression into a fully-fledged J'Ouvert band is evidence of our collective effort and hard work. We would like to take this opportunity to thank friends and family for their undeniable support as well as our members from different parts of the world, including those who are unable to visit Trinidad during the carnival period. For those of you joining us for the first time we welcome you to what we hope will be the beginning of an embryonic journey through carnival and beyond. Dayne & Darren
